Sister Artists

Sister Artists is an alliance between women in Africa and artists in the United States. They are survivors of sexual violence and conflict in northern Mali and have found refuge and assistance through The Advocacy Project. They received training in embroidery so that they may have a source of income.

American artists were invited to select an embroidered panel and create an art quilt. The quilts will be exhibited and auctioned later this year. Half of the proceeds will go directly to the Malian embroiderer and half to the Malian refuge, Sini Sanuman, so that more women can be helped.

To learn more about the Sister Artists program, visit The Advocacy Project and its partner organization, Quilt for Change.

I will be sure to post updates and my completed art quilt - which is due August 31st.
